Carrie Underwood sang “America the Beautiful” a cappella at Donald Trump‘s swearing-in ceremony during Monday’s 2025 inauguration. The singer was dressed in a sleeveless midi dress with a small, draped collar and light ruching down the front.
Underwood wore strappy beige pointed-toe stilettos and accessorized with statement diamond dangling earrings, as well as sparkling diamond rings.
In a statement, Underwood explained her decision to accept the invitation to sing at the inauguration. “I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event,” she said. “I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future.”
During her performance, there was a technical issue with the audio and Underwood continued without the background music as others sang along.
Underwood recently wore a two-piece metallic gown from Rafik Zaki with a reflective silver bodice and a high-low silver skirt for the Songwriters Hall of Fame Induction and Awards Gala 2024. Another memorable outfit was the star-embellished tulle gown from Monique Lhuillier and the mirrored gold heels she wore to the CMT Giants Ceremony in 2022.
Joining Underwood as a fellow musical guest at the inauguration ceremony was Lee Greenwood, who performed his signature song “God Bless the U.S.A.” Other performers include Christopher Macchio, who has performed at the 2020 and 2024 Republican conventions and other Trump rallies.
Donald Trump’s second inauguration as the 47th President of the United States took place on Monday in Washington, D.C. Following tradition, the day began with a worship service at St. John’s Episcopal Church and a White House meeting between incoming and outgoing presidents.
The mandated swearing-in ceremony happened on the West Front of the U.S. Capitol. Following the inauguration, guests and supporters of the President are expected to attend three evening celebrations, including the Commander in Chief Ball, Liberty Inaugural Ball and Starlight Ball.
