There’s nothing like a beating rainstorm, a runway beneath the arches of an abandoned building and a haunting saxophone solo to create a bit of mysterious ambiance. With those criteria, founder and designer Alexandre Mattiussi hit his marks for drama at this season’s Ami show.
Omar Sy and Whoopi Goldberg made the front row, and posed for pics together. Sy attended the Louis Vuitton show Tuesday night as well.
“I’m not a fashion show regular, but I think there are some brands like that. Vuitton is a good brand for me. I like what they do and Ami is the same. They’re intemporal — timeless — and I like the fact that you have ample space so it’s very comfortable,” he said.
Sy is personal friends with Mattiussi, he said, categorizing the designer as a “very sensitive artist.”
The actor gamely posed for pics with the many fans who lined up to get a shot with the “Jurassic World” star. His next film is “Dis-moi juste que tu m’aimes” opposite Vanessa Paradis. That will be released Feb. 19.
Does he play a superhero or fight dinosaurs? “No, just a regular husband,” he joked.
Goldberg made her very first Paris Fashion Week show. She recently posed for a campaign with Ami, and was named a house ambassador last November.
“They were kind enough to ask me if I would come, and I said yes,” she said of the invitation. “I’m very happy. People seem to be all right with me here, and I seem to be OK with them so far. So it’s all good.”
With all the chaos and commotion of photographers and fans trying to snap photos of and with her, she seemed content to make this her only fashion week appearance.
“This is a one time thing,” she said. The Paris trip would be a quick in and out, and she revealed she recently purchased a house in Italy, which is more her vibe.
“Parasite” star Choi Woo Shik caused a commotion when he arrived. Also in the house was Park Bo Young, his costar in the upcoming Netflix series “Melo Movie.” But the two weren’t seated together; instead Choi chatted with French singer Lou Doillon and the fast friends exchanged contact info after the show.
