Addison Rae Revives the Bandage Dress in Self-Portrait at Jingle Ball in Washington

Addison Rae brought back a 2000s staple at iHeartRadio’s 2024 Jingle Ball in Washington on Tuesday. The “Diet Pepsi” singer didn’t perform during the annual concert series, instead partaking in a question and answer session.

On the red carpet, Rae modeled a winter white Self-Portrait by Christopher Kane minidress featuring cutout sleeves and frilly ruffled trim. Lace tights and T-strap peep-toe heels topped off her festive look.

The TikTok star was styled by Dara Allen, who also dresses “Euphoria” actress Hunter Schafer. Hairdresser Lucas Wilson styled Rae’s honey blond tresses in waves, while her Pat McGrath makeup look consisted of rosy blush and a bold red lip.

In October, Rae attended the 2024 CFDA Fashion Awards in an under-the-sea-inspired ensemble, nodding to her latest single. “Aquamarine” is named for the 2006 fantasy film starring Emma Roberts and Jojo, which follows a mermaid who becomes human.

Rae wore a plaid sequined mermaid skirt designed by Thom Browne, pairing it with a gray corset top, a Mikimoto pearl necklace and a conch shell, which stood in for a clutch.

Bandage dresses, particularly those designed by Hervé Léger, took red carpets by storm in the ’90s and early 2000s. Stars including Kim Kardashian, Salma Hayek and Cindy Crawford flaunted the flattering body-con frocks, which come in a rainbow of shades and several different cuts. In 2023, Michelle Ochs of Cushnie et Ochs was named the label’s new creative director.

Kane, who shuttered his eponymous label in 2023, is the first guest designer to partake in Self-Portrait’s residency program, which is based in London.

“You don’t see this opportunity I’ve been given very often. Compared to the collaborations I’ve done in the past, this is just different. We have a synergy, we love and respect each other, and fashion is in the forefront,” Kane told WWD of Self-Portrait founder Han Chong. “This collection, ultimately, is very wearable and very good fashion at a great price point.”
