Brentford have finalised a deal to sign U.S. Under-19 international goalkeeper Julian Eyestone on a free transfer.

Eyestone has signed a three-year contract at the west London club after spending four months at Duke University.

As reported by The Athletic earlier this month, the 18-year-old, who progressed through the FC Dallas academy, will join Brentford after making 18 appearances for Duke in North Carolina.

Brentford are expected to pay the MLS club training compensation for the goalkeeper, which is being discussed and the move is subject to work permit approval with the application currently being processed.

If all proceeds to plan the 6’7 shot-stopper will join Brentford’s pre-season training. He is due to meet up with the U.S. Under-19 squad in June as they prepare for the CONCACAF Under-20 Championship in Mexico between July 18 and August 4.

Eyestone — rated as one of the hottest U.S. goalkeeper prospects — made his debut at Under-19 level against Morocco in March.

He was originally called up to the U.S. Under-17 squad in 2020 when he was 15. He debuted for North Texas SC — the FC Dallas second team — aged 16, making nine appearances.

Mark Flekken, Thomas Strakosha and Hakon Valdimarsson are currently the goalkeepers in Brentford’s senior squad.
