Eva Mendes Revives ‘Mob Wife’ Trend in Leopard Print Stella McCartney Dress While Discussing New Children’s Book on ‘Good Morning America’

Eva Mendes just proved the “mob wife” trend is here to stay this fall. The actress arrived at “Good Morning America” on Tuesday modeling one of this season’s hottest prints: leopard.

Mendes selected a caped Stella McCartney dress from the label’s resort 2025 collection, pairing it with a blue overcoat, oversize frames, gold earrings, a top-handle purse and skintight leather thigh-high boots. She topped off her look with a voluminous ’60s-inspired bouffant.

The actress channeled key elements of the “mob wife” trend that took social media and runways by storm earlier this year, with Christian Dior, Zimmermann and Marni debuting leopard print designs during their fall 2024 presentations. The viral aesthetic takes fashion cues from gangster girlfriends like “Casino’s” Ginger McKenna and Adriana La Cerva of “The Sopranos.”

The playfulness of Mende’s dress is something McCartney kept in mind while putting together the entire collection. “I want people to enjoy the Stella McCartney brand. We’re not a heavy, hard, kind of strict and oppressive brand,” she previously explained to WWD reporter Joelle Diderich. “You know, we’re not telling people what to wear. We’re trying to invite people into our community and have a conversation that’s actually really important,” she noted of the collection made of 95 percent responsible materials.

Speaking to host George Stephanopoulos, Mendes described the plot of her debut children’s book entitled “Desi, Mami and the Never-Ending Worries.”

“It’s about this little girl named Desi and she tries to work with her brain to make sure it’s not being a bully to her by sending all of these negative thoughts her way,” Mendes explained.

McCartney recently tapped Mendes as the face of her brand’s fall 2024 campaign alongside British songstress Raye. Shot by Ethan James Green in London, the campaign highlights the label’s environmental advocacy and sustainable, cruelty-free practices in fashion.
