Imagine an ancient Egyptian queen thriving in the heart of New York’s high society; this is the inspiration behind Jessel Taank’s debut jewelry collection, “Cleopatra.” In partnership with Deepa Gurnani, the collection, released on Tuesday, caters to individuals “who aren’t afraid to stand out from the crowd,” the “Real Housewives of New York City” star told WWD.
“Cleopatra was renowned for her regal aesthetic, power and her ability to command her presence with grace. This was essentially the foundation by which the collection was born — a celebration of strong, independent identities showcased through bold statement pieces like cuffs, collars and headpieces that exude confidence and authority,” Taank said.

The capsule collection features eye-catching pieces with intricately hand-embroidered motifs inspired by Egyptian hieroglyphs. One of Taank’s favorite pieces is a snake-inspired set of earrings and a necklace, which is a nod to her mother.
“Growing up, I remember my mom having something similar. She used to style a simple black dress with the snake set — I believe it included an armband, too. She is actually very much an inspiration behind this collection. She was not afraid to be different,” Taank said.
According to Taank, the design process behind the collection “was anchored in creating seasonless, timeless pieces” that “resonate with women who embrace their power and diversity.”
Currently on her second season of Bravo’s “The Real Housewives of New York City,” Taank, the founder of the retail platform Oushq, said she often channels Cleopatra’s energy when she needs to feel empowered.
