GAO blocks Congress review of California ICE ban rules


The US Government Accountability Office has rejected President Trump’s attempt to have Congress rescind California’s 2035 ICE ban. By Stewart Burnett

The US Government Accountability Office (GAO) stated on 6 March 2025 that the Biden administration’s approval of California’s plan to phase out internal combustion engine sales by 2035 is immune from repeal by Congress. The GAO emphasised that this decision should be considered an order and not subject to review.
