Lightbox Partners With Two ‘Design-Driven' Jewelry Brands

Lightbox, the De Beers-owned lab-grown jewelry brand, said Wednesday that it has entered into two new “design-driven” partnerships with the goal of expanding its fashionable jewelry offerings.

The first is with Roseate, a new pearl-centric fine jewelry brand with a focus on sustainability. The second, which has yet to be officially launched, is with The Future Rocks, a global online brand specializing in lab-grown jewelry. Lightbox CEO Antoine Borde, in a statement, said these two design-driven partnerships, a first for Lightbox, will enable the company “to broaden its product assortment, retail visibility and customer engagement.”

“Lightbox’s reputation as a leader in the lab-grown diamond space, as well as our sustainability and quality credentials, combined with Element Six’s patented technology and innovation, have allowed us to foster relationships with some of the best retail partners in the world,” he said. (Element Six is a De Beers owned company that has produced lab-grown diamond for manufacturing and technical applications since 1946.)

Roseate, based in New York, was founded by Pamela Cloud, a former longtime Tiffany & Co. executive. She started the company with some of her co-workers at Tiffany. It specializes in jewels made from South Sea pearls, cultured pearls that are grown in Australia, Indonesia, Tahiti and the Philippines. They are generally larger and have a unique luster when compared with pearls from other regions.

Cloud works with a handful of pearl farms in the South Pacific and has gotten to know the owners personally. She says knowing where the pearls originate is vital for her sustainable brand. “Traceability is paramount.” She says using Lightbox lab-grown diamonds to enhance her pearl jewelry allows her to easily trace all diamonds from the source as well.

“Roseate is a collection of fine jewelry that sees pearls anew,” Cloud said. “We’re also committed to sustainability that, for us specifically, means traceability to source. To that end, we have partnered with Lightbox for all lab-grown diamonds used in the Roseate collection.”

Lightbox collaborated on new pieces for the brand’s “Roseate Wands” pendant collection, which includes a charitable component. The “Lightbox x Roseate Light Wand” is a slender scepter pendant, topped with brilliant lab-grown diamonds and accented with mother-of-pearl, responsibly sourced in Western Australia. The pendants are offered in 18k white, yellow and rose gold, topped with white and blush pink Lightbox lab-grown diamonds. Each pendant retails for $2,000 with a 22–24-inch chain or on its own for $1,600. The “Light Wand” is available on both brand websites and in the Roseate store. Lightbox and Roseate are donating 20% of the price of every piece sold to the “Billion Oyster Project,” a New York-based nonprofit organization with the goal of engaging one million people in the effort to restore one billion oysters to New York Harbor by 2035.

This is a project Cloud has been involved in since she started her company.

The second project for Lightbox is a partnership with The Future Rocks, a Hong Kong-based online fashion jewelry brand that uses 100% lab-grown diamonds. The two companies have partnered on what is called the “Joy Collection,” which will be released in December.

The eight-piece capsule collection uses Lightbox’s white, “blush pink” and “pale blue” diamonds in a variety of cuts, including round brilliant, princess and trillion. The gems will be clustered on rings, earrings and necklaces. The silhouettes are designed to be easy to wear and to mix, match and stack. Some of the settings and cords used in the jewels are made from PET materials, an eco-friendly material that is made from recycled plastic. Prices range from $350 to $1,100. These partnerships complement Lightbox’s current distribution of approximately 165 retail doors across the US and Canada, including Nordstrom, Reeds Jewelers and Bloomingdale’s along with international shipping from its website to more than 75 countries.
