Millie Bobby Brown married two ongoing red carpet trends, archival dressing and sheer fabrics, for the premiere of Netflix’s “The Electric State” in Madrid on Friday. Accompanied by her husband, Jake Bongiovi, the actress attended the event in a vintage Giorgio Armani dress that Gwyneth Paltrow famously wore at the 1998 “Shakespeare in Love” premiere in New York City.

The dress, a sheer, beaded ice-gray gown, was paired with a dark blue shawl for contrast. The styling option was another reference to Paltrow’s look, which also featured a long black shawl.
Paltrow wore the Armani during a pivotal moment in her career. Her work in “Shakespeare in Love” would go on to win her the Academy Award for Best Actress.

Brown confirmed her look was a tribute to Paltrow on her Instagram. The “Stranger Things” star was styled by Ryan Young for the premiere. Young’s been working with Brown throughout “The Electric State” promo tour, previously dressing her in Annie’s Ibiza for the movie’s premiere in Los Angeles.
During the promo tour, Brown also channeled another ’90s fashion icon, Pamela Anderson, wearing a gold satin dress with her bombshell blond tresses, as seen on Brown’s Instagram.

Bongiovi accompanied his wife, embracing other staples from the ’90s. He wore an oversize leather jacket, denim pants and Loewe boots.
“The Electric State” will be available for streaming on Netflix starting on March 7.
