Camavinga expected to be out until the new year with knee injury

Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga is expected to be sidelined until the new year with a knee injury.
Camavinga left a training session with France on Wednesday after suffering an apparent knee problem and initial examinations with national team doctors and Real Madrid specialists point towards a rupture of the collateral ligament in his right knee.
The 21-year-old will undergo an MRI scan on Friday at Real’s Valdebebas training ground to fully determine the extent of the injury.
If he has suffered a complete rupture, he will be expected to be out for around two months. There is some hope Camavinga has not sustained a total rupture, and this would reduce his time on the sideline by around a week.
He is targeting a return for the Spanish Super Cup, which takes place between January 10-14 in Saudi Arabia.

Mikel Arteta has been charged by the Football Association (FA) following his post-match comments made after Arsenal’s 1-0 defeat at Newcastle United.
Anthony Gordon’s controversial winner was enough to secure victory for Eddie Howe’s side. The goal was checked by VAR Andy Madley to see whether the ball had stayed in play, whether there was a foul by a Newcastle player, and also whether there was an offside.
The Athletic previously reported that the FA had written to Arteta and Arsenal requesting their observations following the post-match comments. It has now been confirmed that he has been charged “with a breach of FA Rule E3.1”.

Diaz scores twice against Brazil with father in attendance

Luis Diaz scored twice for Colombia as Los Cafeteros defeated Brazil 2-1 in qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The result marks the first time Colombia has ever beaten Brazil in World Cup qualifying.
Diaz’s goals came one week after his father was released after being kidnapped.
Diaz’s father was in the stands to watch the game in Baranquilla, Colombia, in which Gabriel Martinelli opened the scoring for Brazil in the 4th minute before Diaz bagged a quick brace, with goals in the 75th and 79th minutes.
