Stellantis hits pause on Ontario retool amid NA uncertainty

Stellantis attributes the pause to EV market uncertainty, but Unifor remains concerned that US tariffs are an underlying factor. By Stewart Burnett

Stellantis announced on 21 February 2025 that it is “temporarily pausing work” on a $1.2bn retool of its assembly line in Brampton, Ontario as uncertainty lingers over the North American automotive industry. The automaker has offered no indication as to how long the pause at Brampton, which employs around 3,000 people.
