In this episode of WWD Voices, host Arthur Zaczkiewicz chats with Jeanette Duke, director of marketing at Sky IT Group, about innovations in retail technology. She explains the limitations of traditional Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), particularly EDI 852, which has not adapted to modern retail needs such as detailed insights into sales trends, markdowns and promotional activities. Duke calls in from the National Retail Federation Big Show at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center on Jan. 13. The event, one of the world’s largest retail trade shows, features around 40,000 retailers and 1,000 vendors, including Sky IT Group. The company was at the show, spotlighting its Skypad platform, which is designed to transform sales and inventory reporting. Duke explained how Skypad integrates more effectively with current retail systems, offering customization, better historical data access and connectivity through an API (Application Programming Interface) and FTP (File Transfer Protocol).
