Tosin to leave Fulham when contract expires this summer

Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo will leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season.

The 26-year-old centre-back has turned down Fulham’s latest proposal and has informed the club he will not be renewing terms.

The former Manchester City defender had previously rejected a new deal last season, and was the subject of two bids from Monaco last summer.

Fulham had always aspired to retain the player for the long term and negotiations resumed again this season. However Tosin, who has received interest from West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur among other clubs, has now decided he will leave Fulham when his contract expires at the end of June.

Tosin progressed through the youth ranks at Man City and made eight first-team appearances for the club before joining Fulham in 2020.

Why Tosin Adarabioyo joined Fulham from Man City

He signed for a very low fee of £1.5 million, rising to £2 million with add-ons as well as a 20 per cent sell-on clause. He has gone on to make 132 appearances for the club, and helped the team re-establish themselves in the Premier League after relegation in 2021.

The defender suffered a groin issue last summer that required surgery, but he returned to the team and has remained an important figure in the squad for coach Marco Silva.

He has scored two goals in 25 appearances this season, starting Fulham’s last nine Premier League games.

He also scored the winning penalty in the club’s shoot-out victory over Everton in the quarter-final of the Carabao Cup, ensuring Fulham’s first-ever appearance in a League Cup semi-final.

Fulham are next in action against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park tomorrow.
