Galatasaray have confirmed the signing of Victor Osimhen on a season-long loan.
The Athletic reported earlier this week that Osimhen was close to finalising a move to the Turkish side after they reached an agreement with Napoli on a temporary deal for the striker.
Galatasaray announced on Wednesday that they will pay Osimhen €6million (£5m, $7.9m) in wages for the 2024-25 campaign. The agreement does not include an option or obligation to buy the Nigeria international.
Chelsea were among those interested in Osimhen this summer but failed to come to an agreement before the Premier League transfer window closed on Friday, while Saudi Pro League club Al Ahli also worked on a deal before signing Ivan Toney from Brentford.
Osimhen joined Napoli from Lille in 2020 and scored 76 goals in 133 appearances for the Italian club.
He played a key role in Napoli’s historic 2022-23 Serie A title win, their first in 33 years, by scoring 26 goals in 32 league matches.
Although his goal tally dipped in 2023-24, with Napoli finishing 10th and 41 points behind champions Inter, he still managed to score 17 goals across all competitions.
