Gary O’Neil has been sacked as Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach after a defeat by Ipswich Town on Saturday that ended in chaotic scenes.
With Wolves 19th in the Premier League table and four points from safety the decision perhaps does not come as much of a surprise, but O’Neil had impressed in his first season at Molineux and signed a new four-year deal with the club in August.
Wolves had also been sounding out potential successors without success before the defeat by Ipswich that left them with just three wins in 26 games.
