Wolves hopeful of completing Emmanuel Agbadou signing from Reims

Wolverhampton Wanderers are hopeful of completing the signing of Stade de Reims centre-back Emmanuel Agbadou.

Wolves are set to pay a fee of £15million for the Ivory Coast international.

The Athletic reported in the DealSheet Wolves’ overriding priority in January was a new centre-back signing following the sale of Maximilian Kilman to West Ham United in the summer and the season-ending anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury sustained by Yerson Mosquera in September.

Wolves have reverted to a back three in recent weeks, increasing the need for reinforcements at centre-back during the January window.

Agbadou, 27, joined Reims from Belgian side Eupen in the summer of 2022.

He has made 15 appearances in all competitions this season and started 14 of his side’s 15 Ligue 1 fixtures, frequently captaining the side.

Agbadou signed a new contract with Reims in September which runs until 2028.

Wolves are 17th in the Premier League, one point clear of Ipswich Town in the relegation places. Vitor Pereira’s side return to action against Nottingham Forest on Monday.
