Zoe Saldaña’s Oscars Dresses Through the Years: Purple Ombré Givenchy, White Lace Fendi and More

Zoe Saldaña has attended the Academy Awards since 2010. Though she hasn’t hit the red carpet of the historic awards show every year, the occasions for which she has were memorable thanks to her idiosyncratic designer style.

This year, Saldaña won’t attend the Oscars as a presenter or A-list guest. The actress is nominated, and the front-runner, for best performance by an actress in a supporting role for her work in the Netflix musical thriller “Emilia Pérez.”

Ahead, WWD breaks down each of Saldaña’s Oscars appearances and the designer dresses she wore on the red carpet.

2010

At the 2010 Oscars, Saldaña wore an ombré purple Givenchy haute couture gown. The strapless dress featured a fitted bodice in a champagne hue with allover sparkles. At the waist of the gown was a structural element in a light purple hue that transitioned to darker variations on the color. The skirt of the dress featured voluminous, floating layers of tulle. The Givenchy haute couture design also included a thigh-high slit at the front.

2013

Saldaña took inspiration from the runway for her look at the 2013 Oscars. The actress wore a look courtesy of designer Alexis Mabille’s spring 2013 collection. The strapless dress featured a muted gray tone with variations on the shade on the layered portion of the trumpeted skirt. The crepe gown featured a bustier-style bodice with floral appliqués near the neckline. At the waist was a belted element for a cinched silhouette.

2015

Two years later, Saldaña opted for a design courtesy of Atelier Versace. The gown featured a pale rose hue, with a cascading train, subtle fabric draping on the front of the skirt and geometric lines for a contemporary spin. The actress accessorized the look with a shimmering choker necklace.

2023

Saldaña’s 2023 Oscars dress came courtesy of Fendi‘s fall 2022 couture collection. The floor-length gown featured lace paneling and was designed with references to a slipdress. The mesh gown featured ornate detailing and some botanical inspiration. Saldaña accessorized the look with vintage Cartier jewelry.
